All Springvale Combat products are manufactured to BS
3837:1986 Part 1.
Atlas Concrete produce a wide range of precast concrete
floor systems. The joists of the Atlas Concrete ECOshield
'T' Beam floor insulation system are designed to
BS 8110 : 1985.
The System
The system is a suspended flooring system for domestic
applications which comprises pre-stressed concrete floor
joists infilled with purpose designed high duty expanded
polystyrene (EPS) panels topped off with a power floated
reinforced structural screen finish. The system is simple
and quick to install and produces a floor with an excellent
thermal insulation value. The advanced design of the
system provides a greater level of home cumfort and
ensures reduced heating costs.
EPS Infill Panels
These are used in place of standard building blocks
between the floor joists. The insulation value of the
EPS is more than three times better then even the most
efficient lightweight thermal block so no further insulation
is required in the floor structure. The closed cell
lightweight EPS panels are very easy to handle and their
design facilitates a very rapid installation. The shape
of the panels has been carefully developed to minimise
cold bridging at the floor joists giving an average
insulation thickness of approx. 85mm. Where necessary
the panels can be easily cut with a fine toothed saw
to accomodate the most awkward lenghts, spans, widths
and services. Off cuts of reasonable size can be reused
so waste is minimised. The blocks are available to suit
floor joist centres of either 488mm or 588mm. Each block
measures 1200mm long and covers more than five times
the area of a standard building block. The EPS panels
each weigh only approx. 1.4kg (1.0kg in the case of
the 488mm panels) and arrive on the site in packs wrapped
in polythene which can be carried comfortably by one
person.

Floor joists
The floor joists are manufactured from Portland cement,
with aggregrates and pre-stressing complying with all
relevant British Standards. Atlas Concrete 150mm deep
joists have been designed specifically for domestic
markets and are easy to handle and place on site.

Structural Floor Screed
The floor joists and EPS infill panels are topped off
with a power floated C30 concrete structural screed
finish which is reinforced with either polyproplyene
fibres or an A98 Mesh. The screed should have a minimum
thickness of 50mm from the top of the flor joists.
